Some Spanish gastronomy in Budapest!

Are you looking for a Tapas bar in Hungary? Take a visit to PATA NEGRA, which is located at Kálvin Square.

The place in front of the restaurant is unfortunately not available due to cold weather. But in summer it’s a great place to take a seat, eat some extremely delicious Spanish food and watch the crowd flowing.
It’s a really nice restaurant, not so big, but perhaps tapas bar shouldn’t be so huge. You should have a reservation because you might not get a table or you have to wait – especially at dinnertime.

However, the waiter welcomes you kindly even if you don’t have reservation, he opens up the reservation book and looks for a free table for you.

Another useful advice: Don’t go here alone but with others, because this way you can try more dishes. Believe us, it will be worth it! So if you already have a table, the waiter comes in a few minutes and brings you the menu and the wine list

(you can also find them on the bar’s website: https://patanegra.hu/en/). The prices (adding the 10% service charge) are affordable so you don’t need to worry, you won’t be shocked. The menu is translated into 3 languages: Spanish, English and Hungarian.
This is a tapas bar, so don’t think that you will get a huge portions! As “tapas” mean tiny bites, which function as an appetizer during drinking wine. Of course, you can order normal Spanish food, too, not just these little bits.

I believe quality is more important than eating huge amount of food.

et’s go back to the bar. You can feel the Spanish atmosphere inside, the tiles, the pictures on the walls. It feels as if we’ve just jumped in from a street of Barcelona.

The meals were served in a short time, and as I have already mentioned, he biggest company you have, the more specialties you can taste. It is a very good place to spend your time talking and having something for the teeth.
To sum up: meals of high quality, optimal prices, I really recommend “Pata Negra”!

What we ordered:

Sangría:

The sangría (in Spanish it means “venesection”, from the word “sangre” meaning “blood”) originates from Spain, consists of wine, chopped fruit, it is a low alcohol content, flavored drink.

Sangría is also called “wine punch”and “aromatic wine”. Recently it is also prepared in other countries, as well, such as Hungary. Its alcohol content is 7%. Recommended to drink when it’s cold, popular drink on the hot summer days.

Catalan bred:
The recipe of this food is very simple. Only tomato, olive oil, and salt are needed. The secret of this bread is the high quality ingredients.

Patatas bravas:
“Brave potatoes” (because of the spicy/hot sauces), similar to French-fries. This potato with special sauces is very tasty. Basic dish of the tapas bars.

Chicken brochettes:

Juicy, tasty chicken brochettes flavored with Mediterranean spices.

Catalan cream:

The “crema catalana” or crème brûlée, or in Catalonia it’s simply called “cream” a typical dessert of the Catalan cuisine, one of the main ingredient is the cream made of yolk, it is covered with caramelized sugar to be crispy to give a contrast to the cream.
