Why is it called "the city of kings"?
Only those, who were crowned with St. Stephen’s (the first king of Hungary)crown in Székesfehérvár by the archbishop of Esztergom, could officially prevail in the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. St. Stephen (previously mentioned) made this city a royal and cultural centre of the country.

Over the centuries 38 king was crowned in the Basilica “Nagyboldogasszony” of Székesfehérvár. It's worth visiting to the archeological exhibition of Saint Stephen Museum and admiring the buildings in the city-centre. Visit the kind “citizens” of the city, aunt Kati, the bronze sculpture of the marketeer. According to the local superstition, touching her nose brings good luck. Kati's nose is glossy, the bronze is shining there!
